On Friday 23rd September I started completing Task 2. Task 2 was split into two parts. Part 1 was to complete a Glossary of key terms in the media industry. We were given some key terms in which we just had to find the definitions for, and then we were advised to complete our own research until we had 15 key terms. I decided to make my Glossary a separate page so that it will be easier for me to back and forth from it as and when I need to through the duration of my tasks. Part 2 was to research one magazine cover, of our choice and define what the target audience would be for that magazine. I decided to do the magazine 'Glamour' as the target audience is female, and therefore would be easier for me to notify what appeals to the target audience.
On Friday 30th September I started Task 3. Task 3 was to find 5 examples of magazine covers for magazines aimed at teenage girls and to identify what seems to be the conventions of this genre of magazine. I looked at magazine covers such as 'Sugar' and 'Bliss'.
On Friday 7th October, I completed the last of Task 3, and will then uploaded tasks 1, 2 and 3 and adding any other things I think are missing from my blog.
On Friday 21st October I went out and took photo's around college that I could use for my student magazine front cover. I took photo's in different places so that I had different backgrounds with different patterns etc. I made 3 flat plans for different ways in which my cover could be laid out:
I opened different images in the application called 'Adobe InDesign CS3' and played around by looking at different fonts and colors etc.
On Friday 28th October I decided that the photo's I had weren't coming up the way I wanted, and therefore weren't producing the magazine front cover that I wanted. I decided then to go out and take some more photo's using different angles and heights this time to experiment and create a more interesting image.
On Friday 4th November I decided on the image I was going to use as my front cover's image. I decided on this image because it was the one that looked the best, and represented the college well. I also designed my magazine title and chose what color and font I wanted on my magazine. I also came up with a selling line on my magazine cover.
On Friday 11th November I started adding more cover lines and chose what I wanted to be shown in the left third.
On Friday 25th November I uploaded my final front cover drafts and final cover to my blog, and then I uploaded my contents page drafts to my blog. I also analyzed all of my drafts and decided what was good and bad about each of them.
On Friday 2nd December I started to research into music magazines, and look at the styles they used to attract their audiences, in comparison to the student magazines we created. I researched into what they produced on their front covers i.e. the main image, the color scheme, cover lines etc. I also created my music magazine front cover flat plans as part of research.
On Friday 27th January I started doing my final additions to the creation of my front cover. I also started to write up my double page spread interview, and think up some ideas for arrangements of the spread.
On Friday 3rd February I finished my final front cover, and started analyzing it and looking at the parts I liked and disliked about it. I also started creating some double page spread drafts and seeing which arrangements would work better and why etc.
On Friday 10th February I decided on my double page spread layout, and analyzed my other drafts. I then started to experiment with colors and effects for the images and text on the double page spread.
On Friday 24th February I decided on my final images for the double page spread, and started putting the parts in places. I decided to use this layout as I felt it represented the artist in the right way, and everything was placed in a way that meant it was easy to read and understand. I then uploaded all my drafts and final covers and double page spreads onto my blog.
On Friday 2nd March I started to look at the evaluation process for my magazines.
